Faith is NOT a Four Letter Word

In November, Jay Seegert spoke to us about defending our faith.  If you would like to listen to his talk, click HERE!!

Finding Your Family's Rhythm

Last month, a speaker gave us some ideas on how to find your family's rhythm.  If you missed it, or want to hear it again, click HERE!

Marriage

Today's speaker shared on the topic of marriage and really focused on the TOP need of men, which is RESPECT!!  She told us that our respect needs to be unconditional and shown in public, as well as in our home.  We should respect our husband's judgement, his abilities, his roles, his differences, and his need for physical intimacy.  You can listen to today's talk by clicking HERE!!
Welcome to Moms of Influence!!

We hope your summer has been a time of refreshment and lots of sunshine.  As we look forward to fall and the sound of the big, yellow school buses returning to our neighborhoods, we are so excited to begin another season of Moms of Influence.

Our theme this year is based on Phillipians 1:6, "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion."

I am so humbled and grateful that the God who created me in His image will not give up on me and will continue to walk beside me as I navigate these sometimes challenging waters of motherhood.  What an encouragement to know that we do not have to do this alone!

We would LOVE to have you join us as we kick off a new season.  My hope is that you leave each meeting feeling encouraged, refreshed, and cared for.   And, hey, please spread the word to all of your friends and invite a special mom to join us.  It's twice the fun if you share it!

New this year: Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 17th.  We meet in Fellowship Hall at Northbrook Church from 9:00 - 11:15 am.  We don't want you to miss it, so mark your calendars now!

Registration is now OPEN. It is important to register early so you can get in to the group you want (some groups close very quickly) and to secure a place for your child(ren) in childcare.  It helps our coordinator plan for the coming year.

See you on September 17!!!

Making Homemade Go-Gurts

  • Yogurt started cultures and videos available at www.culturesforhealth.com
  • Today I used Villi culture which has a mild, kid-friendly flavor-2 packs for $12.99.  (If taken care of the culture will make endless amounts of yogurt).
  • It is recommended to freeze 1/4 c. of the starter, so that if you forget about your culture and ruin it, you can thaw this out add to milk and resume making yogurt.
  • For best results use whole milk, the sugar in the milk "feeds" the culture.
  • Not ready to make homemade yogurt?  Then buy a large container of plain or vanilla flavored yogurt to use as the base of your "go-gurt."  Read the label to make sure it contains strains of bacteria.
  • Put yogurt and desired flavoring in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour yogurt smoothies into the silicone tubes and freeze.
  • Makes a perfect yogurt treat for your child's lunch.
Available through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-431-4-Piece-Silicone-Maker/dp/B0036B9KHO/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&gid=1348773424&sr=1-2&keywords=silicone+tube

Pack of 4 tubes for $9.84

Flavoring Yogurt:

  • Fruit or fruit juice
  • Add a small amount of mild leafy greens like kale, spinach, leafy lettuce, etc. to boost nutritional value
  • Honey (fyi: some say that honey naturally kills bacteria and may kill some of the healthy bacteria in the yogurt).
  • Maple syrup
  • Unrefined sugars like Sucanat, Rapadura, coconut sap
  • Natural non-calorie sweetners such as stevia (liquid form is optional)
  • Extract Flavoring: Vanilla, Almond, Chocolate, etc.
